Homemade Hair Mask

Making your own hair mask is such and easy and fun process that will give your hair a boost of beauty instantly. I was experiencing some hair fall after the birth of my third child and decided to take action with making some deep conditioning oils and masks. This homemade hair mask leave my hair silky and shiny and love making it over and over.

The reason why women experience dry or even lose their hair while breastfeeding, is because breastfeeding depletes the body of vitamins and minerals. Don’t be alarmed you new moms; postpartum hair loss is a normal  and temporary.  Most women will return to their usual hair growth cycle between 6 and 12 months after birth.

Tips to support healthy hair and scalp

  • Keep a diet rich in vitamins and minerals and use some supplements if needed. I use these baby and me vitamins.
  • Visit your hair dresser and get a good haircut. I usually get a hair cut right after I give birth and my head always feels lighter :).
  • Try different homemade moisterizing and smoothing mask recipes.
  • A good quality shampoo and conditioner may help. I buy mine from morroccan methods when i don’t have time to make my own or the AromaSilk line by Young Living. These are the only brand I trust to be  100% natural.
  • Try rubbing some essential oils on your scalp: essential oils can support healthy hair and scalp. I use one drop or two of Cedarwood and Five drops of lavender Young Living Essential oils and mixed with a tablespoon  of olive oil and rub on my scalp one hour or so before washing my hair.
  • Avoid using a brush or comb that pulls or stresses the hair.

The recipes I am going to share with you today is very easy and affective. You can use it everyday and as much as you want. It consists just of just three ingredients That most likely you have in your kitchen.

Put all the ingredients in a blender and blend few seconds until you make a smooth loose paste. Apply it to your wet hair and leave on for half an hour. Wear a shower cap to avoid dripping and to keep the heat that allow more penetration of the goodies you are using. Rinse thoroughly with water.

Did you know that most shampoos, hair and skincare store bought products contain synthetic materials that create many of our hair, scalp and skin problems?

Take a look at these examples

  • Propylene Glycol – can causes dry skin and skin irritation.
  • Sodium Lauryl Sulfate or Laureth Sulfate – surfactant that may corrode hair follicles
  • Oleyl betaine – may cause dry hair and scalp.
  • Mineral oils – petroleum products clog pores! this chemical is too big to be absorbed by the skin.

I use this brand whenever I don’t have time to make my own masks, conditioners and shampoos.

Note: It is absolutely possible to greatly reduce or completely eliminate the use of toxic chemicals from your beauty regimen. Reading labels and researching ingredients might seem overwhelming at first, but once you become familiar with what ingredients and chemicals to look for, it will become second nature to you. You will also find that the results of using naturally derived ingredients are well worth the effort by saving money and taking care of your health.
